Good Sleeping Habits
Personal
hygiene is very important part of our life. But how many of us believe in
sleep hygiene. Have we ever bothered that a good sleep is must for the body.
If you follow simple tips you can beat insomnia and be healthy and
fresh.
The most basic and
important tip is to maintain a proper sleep/wake schedule. This way our body
behaves in same manner and we feel sleepy every day at same time and wake up at the
specific time. The body gets used to this pattern and we get good sleep. Just try
to schedule this system and follow it strictly.
The exact time can
be determined by the fact like nature of your job, working hours, travel time etc.
Whatever is your job profile stick to it seven days in a week. If in any case you
have to deviate the schedule on weekends, it should be limited to maximum one hour
or so. Another important point is that in addition to sleep/wake schedule maintain
a consistency for meals exercise etc.
If you have dinner
at different times on weekdays, a wrong and conflicting signal goes to the body
about sleeping time. Another important thing about stopping
snoring is to develop pre-sleep habit, spare some
minutes to resolve any important task like unwashed dishes, next day’s plan or
replying to your mails etc.Just be free from any thoughts before going to
bed.
Even if you think
about some problems in the bed, just set them aside beforehand. It might help you
to note down the concerns on writing pad before sleeping. Before going to sleep
windup everything like watching television, reading or listening to
music.
Many people take
hot water shower before going to bed, bath is really relaxing. Few worries or ideas
often come to mind in the bed, keep a pad nearby and note it down, so that you do
not forget them next day.
Many stress
managements techniques are available, if you know them, practice these techniques.
Meditation or relaxing exercises can also help. You have much time to do the jobs
before going to bed, identify them, priortise them and do them before going to bed.
The idea is you need to have mind free from worries and fear before you
sleep.
Bed room should be
exclusively kept for relaxing and sleep, try to associate your body with the bed.
The moment you enter into the bed room a signal subconsciously goes to brain that
it is sleep time now. Do use your bed room only for sleep and sex.Avoid watching
television, checking bank balance, making phone calls, eat a snack etc in the
bed.
